Stash Raid

The recipe challenge at the wecraftcards Forum this week was really a challenge because it required seven “ingredients.” My square wedding card features the following- 1. Card Base (Kraft), 2. Stamped Image (SU Dove- embossed), 3. Four Patterned Papers (love, have and hold, black & gold mulberry paper, plus bronze rectangle which is actually an upcycled wedding thank you card), 4. Embellishment (bronze charm), 5. Trim (Sheer white ribbon), 6. Sentiment (Love die-cut) and 7. Freebie (Overlay of purple plastic document folder. NOTE- you can find details about this wonderful office supply staple in one of my blog posts earlier this month. You can find it HERE.) The inside sentiment is from a wood-mount stamp from a company that is now out of business (Northwoods.)

The current Creative Confetti Challenge at Power Poppy is named “Get Krafty.” I used one of their wonderful digi sets named Cuppa Cupcakes and tutorial for coloring glass that was recently featured on Power Poppy. (You can find the tutorial HERE.) I don’t use colored pencils very often, so was fun to put them to use. The results aren’t perfect, but I think it looks pretty good for a first try! (And I know that I’ll be making more of these cards… and am also looking through my stamps and digis for other “glass” items.) The inside sentiment is from the digi set  and the little Happy Birthday tag is from a Lily of the Valley Digi set named "Sentiment Tags."

When I saw that the current challenge at Art Impressions is named “Coffee Cards” I immediately knew what stamp I would use- Maude to the rescue! This lovable lady in her fuzzy robe and bunny slippers has always been a favorite of mine. I colored Maude with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiments are computer-generated. (I’ve had the humorous version of the Serenity Prayer in my files for a few decades… and it is a perfect match for the look on Maude’s face. I don’t know its source and when I tried to find it via google, it was on dozens on sites but I couldn’t find the “original.” So if anyone can provide that info, please let me know!)

  3. You did a wonderful job of making that glass globe look like real glass. I haven't tried that technique of using colored pencils to achieve that result, but I really must give it a try. You've inspired me! Thanks so much for joining in on our latest challenge at Let's Craft and Create. Cheryl W, DT
