Friday FUN!

My final entry in the current Double D Challenge named “It’s a Jungle Out There” features a cute digi set from Tiddly Inks named “Monkey Around.” I created a sky background with a handmade template, chalks and makeup sponge. I colored the images  with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen before fussy-cutting them out. I cut a vine with a QuicKutz cookie cutter border die, carefully wove it through the digi vine that the monkey was swinging from then adhered the whole thing to the card front. The sentiments are from the digi set, but I added the word “for” to the beginning of the one on the inside. The sweet little monkey on the inside, titled “Monkey Toy” reminds me of the sock monkeys that my mom made for all of her kiddos… so I really did want a monkey hug while making this card! Or better yet, a Mom hug!

I used a Tim Holtz Collection wood mount stamp from Stamper’s Anonymous to create my last card in this posting, which I’m entering into a fun challenge named Pixies Snippets, that requires the use of paper scraps. I wanted a monochromatic color scheme so I dug through my folders of scraps and found lots of potentials for the card. I then embossed the sentiment in white on black cardstock to create bold contrast and trimmed the stamped image into a rectangle. After a bit of experimenting, I decided to create geometric shapes with the paper scraps, making four triangles that became two nice squares and layered these atop a rectangle of some lovely swirly paper.  I planned to adhere the sentiment atop this base, but it looked way to blah for me. So I switched up one triangle with bright red striped paper. Better, but still kinda boring. The sentiment rectangle needed more pizazz so I added a few layers of paper scraps behind it, turning it into a tag. I then tied a snippet of thin red ribbon around the base of the black ribbon on the tag, attaching a little silver star charm. The final touch was to punch a few little red hearts that were added to the card front. Bye-bye blah!

I am using one of my newer digi sets from Power Poppy named “Cuppa Cupcake” to enter their “Free for All” challenge. The instructions were to make anything at all that we wanted as long as we use a Power Poppy digi or stamped image. I printed the cupcake tower on kraft paper and colored them with Aquarelle watercolor pencils and a Dove Blender pen. The Merry die-cut on the front of the card is from a Stampin' Up Expressions Thinlit Die set, and the inside sentiment is from a Beccy’s Place digi set named “Just Desserts.” To give the card a festive touch I added rhinestones to the candle and sparklers on the card front, and a little pink gem heart on the inside.

This months Progressive Challenge at the FB Cute As A Button features a cute image named “Beach Babe.” I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen then adhered her to a card front that featured a beach photo upcycled from an old calendar.  The sentiment on the front of the card is a freebie from HERE.  The sentiment on the inside is from a Bugaboo Stamps digi set named Under the Sea. Am including this card into several challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Challenge (three colors-beige, blue, and rusty red; and a twist- upcycled calendar page.)

  12. Your cards are all fun and beautiful! Thank you for blessing us with your entry to our challenge at Word Art Wednesday. Leaving you with God's Word in 1 John 3:1 that says, "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him." Have a blessing filled day.
