Beautiful, Cute and Fun

The challenge at wecraftcards Forum this week is called “1-2-3 Choice” and is dedicated to one of the member's sisters who passed away 3 years ago this month. Georgette loved butterflies and purple… so we were asked to create cards that included purple, butterflies or both. I chose to use both in my card. Plus, I wanted to enter my card into the current Butterfly challenge, so I created a Joy Fold card. The beautiful purple butterfly was created with a free digi that I found HERE I colored the wings with a few scraps of a purple plastic document folder (you can find details about this wonderful office supply staple in my last blog post.) This time I layered the purple plastic scraps, that I had cut to size, to darken the purple color tone. I fussycut two of the little flowers from heavy patterned paper, adhered them to a small circle of green patterned paper and added a yellow brad. I cut a slightly larger circle of the purple plastic document folder, taped it to the flowered circle, and then added a foam dot to make the card clasp.  The "smile" sentiment on the front is a sticker from my scrapbook stash, and the inside sentiment is free from Birdscards (you can find it HERE.) The small purple butterfly on the inside is also a freebie that I found HERE.

I’ve been making lots of winter cards lately, and decided to make one more before I put my snowflake papers and dies away. This time the card features an adorable digi from Di’s Digi Stamps named “Candycane Penguin.” Since I wanted to make a card that could be used anything during the winter… not just at Christmas, I fussy cut the image, turning the candy cane into a pole to hold a sentiment banner, then colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiment on the front is from a Whimsy digi set named "Vintage Sentiments."  [You can find it HERE.] The sentiment on the inside is from a favorite set from Beccy’s Place named “Seasonal Windows” and snowflake dies are from Lawn Fawn.

My final card for this posting is a fun one with an image from The Paper Shelter named “How You Doin.” I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. After making a Gate Fold card, I trimmed the colored images apart, adhering one on each side with a little overlap. The sentiments are computer-generated.
