Sweet Memories

The current SumMoreFun challenge mood board has a patriotic flavor. So, I opted for a card that says 4th of July to me and also brings back warm childhood memories. When I was in elementary school, we used to celebrate the 4th with relatives that lived on a farm in Iowa. What I remember about those gatherings were picking fresh strawberries and taking turns turning the crank to help the ice cream churn make creamy vanilla goodness! After dark, we'd watch fireworks. But first, we each got to each burn off three sparklers. I still marvel at the magic of the steady sparkling as we made swoops and even letters in the air. So Fun! (Am entering the card into two other challenges, one requires BLING (which the glitter mix provides) the other requires a sketch (which I followed loosely, using an oval instead of a rectangle.)  The sweet image was a free digi from Whimsey Doodles, which is no longer available. Sadly, the company closed a few months ago. It's so sad to see that happen, especially because they did make such adorable images!
Am entering this into several other challenges including Double D's "Bling It Up", Bugaboo Sketch and Simon Says "Inspired By A Song" (Tinker Bell Music Video-Firework. Great clip from  Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue movie with the Katy Perry song . Watch it here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODayOprlM-g)

The current A2Z scrapbooking challenge is called "shapeshift" and I am having such fun making cards for it. I have always loved making shape cards, but am realizing that I haven't done that for a while. Well… that's gonna change! This card is inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest a while ago. Since I didn't have any sentiments that would work, I printed these off on my computer using a fun font named Curlz. (Making this card reminded me of another fun childhood memory since we made caramel apples every fall when our backyard apple tree provided its bounty.  Such yummy goodness!)

Made several Mother's Day cards last week and this one went to a dear friend who, like my mom, is a quilter. Used a sweet digi image from Little Scraps of Heaven. The sentiment is a freebie from createwithtlc.blogspot.com  and I hand-lettered Mom on the heart, attempting to match the font on the sentiment.
