This month’s Sheepski Designs FB Challenge theme is “My Favorite Colour” and I had fun creating with Andreas’ beautiful digi named “Clematis Trellis,” coloring the blooms in shades pink, one of my favorite colours! I’ve never seen a Clematis so googled it and the photos I found provided lots of wonderful details. I especially like the fuzzy stamens that I attempted to replicate with liquid pearls. The trellis was made with paper strips. I used an Exacto knife to cut slits into the card front, into which I wove the “trellis.” After positioning them in place, I secured the backside with tape. The finishing touches were delicate little butterfly stickers plus a scrap of antique lace from the box of “treasures” I inherited from my sweet mom.

myasperations 8-14-22a

I was able to create another card for the current Double D’s Challenge with one of my upcycled lighthouse calendars. I also used a wood-mount stamp that I’ve had in my stash since the late ‘90s… and which is one of my fav’s! I was excited to discover a few years ago that the company still has a website and sells many of their fabulous stamps, including this Large Hermit Crab, which I stamped onto a scrap of kraft brown cardstock. After adding some color, white highlights and fussy-cutting, the crab takes center stage in this summery scene.
Supplies:

·   Crab Image- Biblical Impressions Rubber Stamp (Large Hermit Crab) Available in unmounted or cling-mounted

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated

·   Upcycled calendar page, cardstock, and metallic silver paper from my stash.

·   Camera die-cut and mini-star punch from my scrapbook stash.

I won this sweet digi from Lee Holland Art last year and finally colored it up for the first time. The sucker on the photo for the current Colorful Options Monthly Challenge provided my inspiration for the card. After coloring and fussy-cutting the digi I wrapped a square of cellophane around the sucker, to add some realism before adhering it to the patterned paper card front. (I used four of my colorful photo corners to attach the patterned paper and really like how they bring out the bright tones in the Yummy sucker!)

Supplies:

·   Digi- Lee Holland Art (Dragon With Heart Lollipop)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment- Freebie from Desert Diva (You Add Color To My Life)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Happy Birthday” Papercrafts Magazine Freebie (no longer available)

·   Colored photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Patterned paper and other items from my stash.

I have always appreciated the talent and generous heart of Power Poppy’s artist/ creator, Marcella Hawley. Earlier this year, Marcella shared the following with her newsletter followers- “Hello, friends. We are all watching the attack on Ukraine with immense pain, horror, and a crushing sense of helplessness. I have been wracking my brain to figure out how to help, even in a small way. Perhaps starting with my drawings, and extending out to YOU, we can make a bigger impact to help people feel supported, loved, and wrapped in prayer from all over the world.“
She added, “Sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine, and we are starting to see them pop up all over the world to show our support and love. I have two bouquets and sunflowers both detailed and simple. Use them with my blessing for whatever purpose helps show support - whether in a card or in social media.” Marcella then makes a generous offer, “All four of my Sunflower-themed digital images are all now available for FREE to anyone who wants to download them and create cards, flyers, or posters.”
Marcella has also created a beautiful sunflower digi and coloring sheet set named, Peace Offering, which is available for $5. All proceeds will be donated to the Sunflower of Peace Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to helping Ukrainians affected by the Russian military invasion.
That beautiful Peace Offering sunflower and sentiment is center stage on this card. In order to fit into the current “Christmas in July” theme, I used a red and green color scheme. Plus, I took a photo of one of my beloved Christmas sweaters to use as the base for the card. I trimmed the vase shape from the image, then attached a scrap of vellum and acetate on top of it, to allow the pattern (muted with vellum) to show through to the top. So fun!

The Double D’s Challenge has been a favorite of mine for several years. I have collected lighthouse calendars for several years, so was fun to use a few of them for the current DD challenge. For this one, I opted to highlight a wonderful digi from artist Francesca Lopez, artist/owner of Cute As A Button. I colored her summer dress in shades of turquoise, plus used a few scraps turquoise related paper  to layer the sentiment,  allowing me to also enter this card into the August Colorful Options Monthly Challenge.

·   Digi- Cute As A Button (Hawaiian Luau)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
