myasperations 3-30-22

It's time for another challenge at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out!
For this challenge, my DT card features a beautiful digi from Fred She Said digital set named Butterfly and Blossoms. I printed a large and smaller version of the butterfly image in black ink on acetate transparency film. I must have printed it on the wrong side because the ink didn’t dry, so I used fine line black embossing powder and a heat gun to set the ink. Colored on the underside of the image, the alcohol markers provide a wonderful translucency.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Butterfly Challenge (it features two of the colors: Lake Blue and lavender, and one theme: butterfly), and Outlawz Monday Greeting Challenge (theme is flowers, which are visible in the embossing on the card base.)
Supplies:

·   Butterfly Digi- Fred She Said (Butterfly and Blossoms)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment “With Heartfelt Sympathy” from Imagine That Sentimental Thoughts digi set (no longer available)

·   Inside Sentiment- “May the Constant Love of Caring Friends…” A freebie found Here

·   Acetate Transparency film, black embossing powder, braided ribbon, floral paper and clear laminate from my stash.

·   Floral Embossed note cards found at a local thrift store.

·   Gold photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   All other items from my stash.

Gem of a Challenge- Week #7 Anything Goes

Scrapbook and Cards Today (SCT) Magazine is holding its Spring 2022 Challenges. This is my third entry, in the Colour Challenge (found HERE). I had fun creating a 3-D card that includes all of the challenge colors... plus flowers!  My card was inspired by a card tutorial from Youtube’s “Maymay Made It" series, but instead of including the gift bag as a “pop-up” inside of the card, mine is an easier-to-make version, with a pop-open bag on the card’s front. (I used the instructions in the tutorial, but at the point where you attach the bag to the inside of the card, I merely folded the bottom of the bag, taped it flat, then adhered it to the card front. The inside sentiment and eyeglass embellishments on the card are from a digi set from Jan’s Digis. I had fun creating sunglasses by printing two pairs of sunglasses (changing the colors with my Word program before printing them off), then adding scraps of dark grey plastic index divider sheets to create the shaded glass. These plastic sheets, sometimes called document file folders, are one of my favorite supplies. They come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. They're cheaper than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these sheets, but they are easy to fussy-cut with a sharp pair of scissors. (I provided a close-up photo of the blue ones so that you can see how the pattern on the bag peeks through the smoky plastic. So fun!)
I also printed an extra copy of the eyeglass frames that I trimmed to become the sides of the frames that hook behind the ears and attached them into place so it looks like the glasses are hanging from the top of the gift bag. A few small gems add a bit of lovely bling to each of the sunglass frames.
Supplies:

·   Pop Up Shopping Bag tutorial- (available HERE.)

·   Eyeglass embellishments and inside sentiment from Jans Digis (Glasses)

·   12x12 coloring page and front Sentiment tag from my scrapbook stash.

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sparkly flower stickers- local Dollar Store.

·   Blue cord, tissue paper, small gems, upcycled calendar page, grey plastic document folder scraps and other items from my stash.

myasperations 3-29-22a

I recently won a few digi’s from artist/illustrator, Christine Karron. Her artwork is amazing, especially her grey-scale work. I had so much fun making a card with a freebie from her blog, named Sweet Temptation!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Cupcake Inspirations Color Challenge (my card includes all three of the colors), and Path Of Positivity Challenge: Celebrate Something Special about your Childhood (my Dad had been a cook in the Navy, and my Mom was the head cook at my school, so we were always blessed with home-baked treats at our house. It’s amazing that I don’t resemble the Pillsbury Doughboy in most of my elementary school photos!)

Supplies:

·   Greyscale Digi- Freebie from Christine Karron (Sweet Temptation)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment-Cuddly Buddly (Sweet Kitchen Sentiments Digi Stamps)

Scrapbook and Cards Today (SCT) Magazine is holding its Spring 2022 Challenges. This is my second entry, in the Sketch Challenge (found HERE). I had fun creating a Christmas card with this wonderful sketch, using a freebie from artist Beccy Muir. To give the Christmas bauble a vintage look, I printed it onto vellum. After coloring colored the silver elements of the bauble and holly border, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock and attached it with a few small strips of double-stick tape to serve a backing for the colored holly. A scrap of evergreen photo patterned paper, sheer ribbon, silver cord, a few layers of cardstock and sentiments finished off the card.

Supplies:

·   Vellum Ornament- Beccy's Place Digital Image Freebie-remastered version (Holly Bauble)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Front Sentiment “Merry Christmas”- Computer Generated

·   Inside Sentiment- QKR Digital Stamp (Thinking of You) Also available in unmounted or cling-mounted

·   Sheer red dotted Swiss ribbon- JoAnne’s

This is my second entry in Double D’s current challenge “Something with a handle.” This time the handle is on a foam-topped mug of beer in a funny digi named "Happy Hour Horace" from Dr. Digi. ·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

My final card this posting was created for the current Lift Challenge that requires a Tunnel Card and provided a link to an excellent tutorial. I used a scrap of acetate as my middle section because it provides support for the large fussy-cut Mermaid image and allows the background to show through. Lots of cute little critters from a Fred She Said digi set help add some activity and colors to the card. So fun!
