This is my third entry into the Beccy’s Place 7th
Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge. It features a Beccy’s Place digi set
named “Spring Tulips”. As one of Beccy's Contributors, I'm entering
this year's month-long event just for fun and also to highlight some of the many
wonderful images and sets that I now have in my ever-growing collection of
Beccy's Muir’s amazing artwork! I colored the image with Spectrum Noir
Coloring System alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The inside
sentiment is from Eureka Stamps. You can find it HERE. I'm entering this card under the letter "E"
for Easter! Am entering this card into several other challenges including the
Butterfly Challenge (Two Colors-Peach and Pear and Two
Theme- patterned paper and butterflies)

I recently
won a challenge at Outlawz and had fun selecting three free digis from The
Paper Shelter. Fell in love with this one, named Holy Night and needed to use
it right away for the current challenge. I did crop the photo down to draw more
focus on their tender hug! The pretty background comes in the digi set. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Coloring
System alcohol markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white, and gold gel pens. The
sentiment on the inside, printed on vellum, is from a Beccy’s Place digi set
named “Baby Robin.” The gold filigree border and sentiment are stickers that I've had in my stash since I co-owned a stamp store in 2001. I found them when organizing a few weeks ago and was glad to learn that they still had some "stick" left in 'em!

My final
card this posting features of scraps (of various patterned papers), snippets (of
ribbon and patterned vellum) and upcycled items (cardboard from a coffee cup holder,
sentiment cut from a greeting card and tie tac made from a broken earring.) The part of making this card that took me the
longest was tying the Windsor knot in the tie! Considering that my husband has worn
a tie less than a two dozen times during our 43 years together (at our wedding,
a few other weddings and a handful of funerals) I haven’t had much practice. I
think the last time I tried to “help” him… we both ended up laughing so hard
that our stomachs hurt. It is a skill I shall never perfect!

Lovely set of cards.
ReplyDeleteStunning cards, great win choice and congrats on your win, hugs, Lori m
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Kathy, I especially love the muted colours on the first one. You've done an amazing job colouring the tulips. I like the addition of the little butterflies too.
ReplyDeleteYour second card is so peaceful and elegant, and the image is gorgeous. The gold detail looks stunning against the dark background.
The last card you made is super cute! Love the tie idea and I would bet there are lots of Dads who would love to receive something like this... it's very creative.
Cheers,
Beccy

ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Kathy. i do love the snippets one of course. Smiled at your tale of tying a tie. Len is a whizz at tying a Windsor knot, mostly from years of wearing jacket and tie for the office - ha, and trousers of course! And you've been with your husband for 43 years? Did you meet at infants school - you certainly don't look old enough to have 43 years together with your hubby!
