Over The River

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! The sponsor this week is Jan’s Digis and I used an image and sentiment from a set named "Over the River." I wanted to keep the image simple so colored the image with just a few Spectrum Noir markers, a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen and a silver gel pen. I frame the image with an item from my scrapbook stash and printed off a single wreath from the image, fussy-cutting and adding it to the inside sentiment.

Wanted to make a card to enter into the Outlawz Purple Challenge… and decided to make a rich purple background for this Halloween ATC that I created from a handful of scraps. The ghost image is from a Bugaboo digi named “Ghost Peeker.  I printed the image onto vellum and also cardstock. Colored the candy corn with a few Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The BOO letters were trimmed from a page of orange and black scrapbook paper I picked up at Goodwill. It included “Brooks High School” in bold lettering. I cut out the B and two O’s then layered them to create the sentiment. A scrap of starry night sky patterned paper, a circle of yellow paper and torn vellum scraps finish up the fun scene. Am entering this into several challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (Orange, plus yellow and purple, with a twist of vellum.)

Cats & Bats & Christmas Bags!

I wanted to make one more card to enter into the Cat Lovers Hop, so I looked through my digi collection. This little cutie just begged to be colored and shared. She's a freebie that you can find HERE.  (Actually Angelique, the artist that created this image, has five cats and offers many adorable images on her blog. Stop by sliekje.blogspot.com and I think you’ll fall in love with all the little furballs!) I usually used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, but decided to use colored pencils for this image. I like the soft look they provide this cute feline. The inside sentiment is from a wonderful, and funny, set of clear donut themed stamps from The Project Bin named “Hole Foods” (see… I told you… FUNNY!)

I also wanted to make one more card to enter into the current Double D’s Challenge named “Silhouette.” I looked through my files and found a template for an Origami pop-up bat I used a few years ago… and decided to make a very special Halloween card for my hubby with it. (After spending 45 Halloweens together, he knows that I prefer cute cards. So… I think he’ll appreciate getting a creepy one this year!)  You can find the template and a picture tutorial that walks through the 27 step Origami process HERE. I took a close up of the critters creepy face so that you can see that I even punched beady little eyes and taped a piece of red paper behind them. (I was once terrorized by a bat that flew into our home and circled the lamp next to me, whizzing past my screaming face several times. So… so it was kinda fun to literally punch this guy in the face. Twice!!) The sentiments are computer-generated.  Am entering the card into a few other challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (Orange, yellow and blue with a twist of terrifying!) and Outlawz Twisted Thursday (Twist=creepy!)

I decided to make a small gift bag to use as a table decoration. Plan to set it on a silver tray and set holly sprigs at the base. (I have silk holly, but might try to find some real sprigs at the local florist.) The background stamp, embossed with white pigment ink and embossing powder, is one that I removed from its wood base many years ago. (I think it might be from Biblical Impressions or maybe Judikins?) The sentiment “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is a freebie from Birdscards.com and the sparkly holly sticker is from a pack I recently picked up at Hobby Lobby.

Seasons of Cards

It’s Friday, so time for another challenge at QKR Stampede!  Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself? My DT card features three digis from Eureka Stamps: Butterfly & Sunflower,  You're Special, and Wonderful Day. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The beautiful red and gold frame are upcycled from an old Christmas card. Am entering this into several challenges, including the Butterfly Challenge (one color- Napa Red, one theme-Butterfly) and Cute Card Thursday Challenge #605 (The gold pattern in the frame sparkles a bit.)

This weeks sponsor for the Colour Crazy Challenge is Ching-Chou Kuik and I created my DT card with a great image named “Winter Cuddle.” I colored the sweet image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen then adhered her to a cardfront made with sheet music and vellum. The snowflakes were made with a Lawn Fawn die set. The inside sentiment is from a Beccy’s Place digi set named “The Nativity.”

My final card for this post was created for the 2019 Cat Lover’s Hop. I love this sweet image from Little Scrap of Heaven named “Cat with BOOloons.” (This digi is on sale right now for just $1.) I printed the cat in grey, then added depth and highlights with Spectrum Noir markers and Aquarelle watercolor pencils. (Decided the cute kitty would be a grey tabby with stripes instead of the typical black cat.) I traced the BOOloons onto vellum, fussy-cut them, the adhered them to a few layers of patterned paper that decorated the card front with a small strip of double-stick tape.  The sentiments are from a Hero Arts Digital Set named Spooky Labels (sadly, no longer available since A2zscrapbooking is closing its doors.)

A Smorgasbord of Designs

The weekly challenge at wecraftcards Forum is to create a card with one Halloween color (Orange, Purple, Green and/or Black) but it doesn’t have to be a Halloween card!  I wasn’t sure what to do until I noticed my Martha Stewart Butterfly punch on my craft table. Paired a few punched butterflies with deep red-orange patterned paper, and fussy-cut a bold hello for the front of the card.  The inside of the card features another butterfly and wonderful ”Thoughts Of You Flutter By On The Breeze” sentiment stamp from a Stampendous set named “Thoughtful Wishes.” Am entering this card into several challenges including The Butterfly Challenge (incorporates two themes-narrow edges and butterfly)

I’ve always been a fan of Frankenstein stories and movies, so love this wonderful freebie from TLC Creations. I colored him with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiment is computer generated. I added a bit of bling with a few silver brads, and some texture with a strip of gauze, sponged with red ink. Used a few fun papers to add a halloween feeling (these skulls and bones are silver foil, you can see the sheen on those below the image) and a sentiment that is computer generated.

The Paper Shelter- #403 Halloween

I found this sweet little purse at the local Goodwill a while ago, fell in love with the simple kitty silhouette and decided to use it as inspiration for a card. Kept is simple with a pretty floral background and computer-generated sentiment. Opted for a bit of ribbon instead of a charm so that it will be easier to mail. I am entering this card into several challenges including Scribbles Colour Challenge (the background includes four of the colors- grey, rust, wine and a bit of yellow) and Outlaws Twisted Thursday (optional twist- Cute.)

My final card went together pretty quickly. I used a diecut snowflake from my scrapbook stash. White liquid applique, heated and then sprinkled with microfine glitter adds bling and texture to the snowflake.  The white card with glittery edge is actually upcycled from an old Christmas card, so I just had to trim it down and adhere it to the pastel card front. I finished the front of the card with few scraps of cardstock, a small bow, and a Lili of the Valley sentiment printed on Vellum. The inside sentiment is from the same Lili of the Valley digi set (named Christmas Wishes.)  Am entering the card into several challenges including Power Poppy “Let’s Take 10” (Requirement was to create a card in a jiffy with a clean and simple design that's easy to mass-produce and can be created and mailed in the same hour!)
