Bunnies

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out!
This week, I used a digi set from one of the challenge sponsors, Maria Medel, named "Easter Bunnies."  I created a unique fold that allowed the two bunnies to take center stage. [I'll add instructions below.]  The sentiment was upcycled from a vintage Easter card that was in my mom's treasure box. [She was such a pack rat… um… I mean such a treasure collector!]

2craftycrittercrazies Challenge- #22                                                   (2craftycrittercrazies.blogspot.com)

Here are instructions for the fold, I'll call it a "Box Base."
Cut a strip of paper 3,5 inches by 11.5 inches. Score at 5.5, 7, 8.5, 10 and 11.5 inches.
Stamp or decorate as desired, [I added cloud background paper and green cardstock "grass."]  Fold as noted in the photo and secure with double-stick tape. Note- be cautious about adding embellishments to the top of the card as they can cause it to easily tip over.

For the January Challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs, I upcycled a sweet image from a card a friend sent to me. (I checked with her and learned that the cute pair of squirrels are from a Gerda Steiner clear stamp set named "Fall In Love." She'd stamped them onto kraft cardstock and colored them with chalks, Tombow markers, and a white gel pen. She also liked hearing I upcycled them! We're weird that way. ) I replaced the leaf they were holding on the original card with a candy Valentine's heart from a Jolee's sticker set named "Conversational Hearts."  I wanted to spotlight the squirrels, so I put them in a hollow tree (instructions and a template are available from Strongs Stamps [hereThe "Will you be my Valentine?" sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva [here.] The inside sentiment is stamped with an old wood mount from Stampendous. I finished the inside of the card with a few more heart stickers.
BTW- The card wouldn't stay shut when I was trying to photograph it. Hence, the wonderful pink paperclip, which won't be included with the card when mailed!

My final card for this posting is for the Double D's Challenge "It's On the Menu." I love this vintage Coca-Cola bottle image on a wood mount rubber stamp I found at a thrift store years ago from a company named Amazing Arts. Stamped the image with black ink on a scrap of vellum, colored from the backside, and added highlights with a white gel pen. Fussy cut the bottle from the vellum and attached it to a scrap of a tan and brown paint chip. Added additional layers of colored cardstock scraps plus the wonderful plaid patterned paper, because I wanted to give the card a masculine feeling. The sentiment is computer generated. Am entering this card into Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge and Power Poppy's  Challenge- Old or New  [with instructions to create either a baby card or a masculine card]

  8. Very cute cards. So glad you participated in our Challenge and we hope you'll join us again. Want to leave your with an inspiration from the Bible in Isaiah 55:6-7 which says, "Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." Have a wonderful week.
