Trio Of Creations

I love being a "Contributor" for Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place. Last year I received an invitation every few months to create cards and other paper creations  using one of Beccy’s new and not-yet-released  digi sets. This year Beccy added the opportunity to make an “encore with some old favorites” card, etc.  This is my first encore creation. It features a yummy looking sucker and sentiment from the Candy Shoppe Set. I colored the sucker with my Spectrum Noir markers, then used a white gel pen to enhance the lines between each section and add a shine to the sweet candy. I cut around the sucker and taped the skewer to the backside, wrapped it with acetate, the tied a scrap of ribbon to hold it in place. When complete, I adhered it to the card with foam tape. Yellow photo corners added a final bit of color to compliment the bright colors of the sucker.
Supplies:
·    Sucker digi and sentiment- Beccy’s Place- (Candy Shoppe set)
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·    Background paper ribbon, and a wooden skewer from my stash
·    A square of acetate (actually, this is a scrap of weatherproofing that was left over after we covered our windows last fall.)
·    Yellow photo corners from Amazon (WXJ13 13 Sheets 13 Colors Photo Mounting Corners)

I recently won a challenge over at The Paper Shelter blog and was thrilled to pick out three digis. This is one of them, and I love it especially when paired with two freebie sentiments from Some Odd Girl. I colored the cute astronaut with shades of blue to fit the current challenge, and trimmed a sheet of galaxy scrapbook paper that also has several shades of blue. to use as my background. After fussy-cutting the image, I added misty exhaust to the rockets with vellum scraps. I love her ray gun so much that I printed off an extra copy to decorate the inside sentiment.

 Supplies:
·    Astronaut digi- The Paper Shelter (Retro Space Girl)
·    Sentiments- Some Odd Girl freebie sentiment set (Valentine Sentiments)
·    Galaxy scrapbook paper- Hobby Lobby
·    Vellum scrap and plastic photo corners from my stash

My final card for this post is a shabby chic type Valentine's card. I layered on many items including a red&gold filigree paper frame cut from an upcycled Christmas card, a gold embossed sentiment (using an Azadi Earles wood-mount stamp), scraps of patterned papers, an old key fussy-cut from scrapbook paper, two primitive hearts cut from red, red rhinestones adhered to the hearts with Glossy Accents and a bit of silver cord tied to the key. The inside sentiment is a digi stamp from Eureka Arts Stamps.
Supplies:
·    Front Sentiment- Azadi Earles (no longer in business)
·    Inside Sentiment- Eureka Stamps (Happy Valentines Day)
·    Misc. Ephemera from my stash

Valentines and Hot Chocolate

Here is my second very pink Valentine card using Art Impression’s Crazy Cat Lady clear stamp set.  I used a freebie Valentine’s Day Subway art as my background, a few puffy heart stickers and a freebie sentiment on the inside to make a fun card. Oh, and the pink rectangle behind the fur adorned cat lover  is made with a scraps of a pink plastic document folder. These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors].

I love this sweet penguin named Finn. He is a creation of the amazing Beccy Muir at Beccy’s Place, and she gave him center stage in several digi sets. This one, named Finn’s Hot chocolate, is one of my favs! I love that contented look on his face as the aroma of rich hot chocolate wafts up from that humungous mug. And those floppy toed socks make me smile. I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Sisterhood of Crafters- Newly Acquired Stash (Background papers are a recent purchase at the local Goodwill. For just $2.50 I got a scrapbook kit with paper, stickers and lots of embellies!), Sketch N Scrap (I followed the sketch, except that I didn't want to cover up Finn's floppy-toed sock with an item to reflect the daisy on the card. Instead, I positioned the background paper that has a grey circle near that area), and Outlawz Saturday Challenge-Things That Make You Happy (Hot Chocolate makes me very happy. Actually, I’m enjoying a large steaming mug of this nectar of the Gods as I write this post. It is a staple during our long, cold winters here in the Midwest of the USA. Tonight, I added a shot of Peppermint Schnapps. Yummy!)

My final card was created for the current shaker challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven. I used artist Tricia Moore’s cute digi named Little Monster, paper-piecing his “skin” with beautiful shiny green paper upcycled from a gift bag. I used googly eyes to add a bit of fun to the card (and who doesn’t like googly eyes?) When I went to find the link to the digi I discovered that the knobs on his head are pushed in further than on the digi. I also didn’t tilt the little cuties head like it is in the original and the jaw needed to be moved closer to the eyes. I don't have time now, but before I use this card, I will take it apart and make that change as this little monster on my card could be so much cuter! (I’ll add the watermarked digi so that you can see the original.)  I like to pick up confetti at the local dollar store at their sales after every holiday. I’ve had a packet of these gold, red and pink hearts since last Spring. To help prevent clumping of the pretty confetti, I added some seed beads and bugle beads in pink, white and red to help prevent the hearts. I also wiped the inside of the acetate with a dryer sheet to try to reduce static that can cause the confetti to stick to the acetate. I am entering this card into several challenges including Power Poppy’s Creative Confetti- Sketch It Out (I followed the sketch pretty closely, but instead of an oval in the center, I have a bumpy monster! I did add two red confetti hearts on the banner ends to reflect the sketch banner.)
One added note- You can pick up this cute digi right now for just $1.50, and it includes one sentiment and several patterned papers.

Cats, Kisses & and a Cute Dress

I haven’t entered anything into the Art Impressions challenge for a while because I wanted to get a new AI stamp set before I did that. After getting this fun stamp set named, appropriately, Crazy Cat Lady, I got busy and made a few cards. Here is the first! Since the requirement was to use several shades of pink, I made a fun valentine’s card. The images and inside sentiment are all three from the AI set. I love creating cards that make people (including me) laugh. So… this card makes me happy!

I was excited to see that Scribbles Designs is celebrating its 7th birthday and thrilled that their challenge is to feature a penguin in our creations. I love penguins so have several stamps and digis and got busy with card making. Here is my first card using a sweet Scribbles digi named “Snow Kisses.” Am entering it into several other challenges including wecraftcards (my card features snowflakes, a penguin and snow), Outlawz Monday Challenge (the tri-fold card is one of my favorite folds as it is so easy and adds some fun- might I even say “suspense”?- to a card!), and Outlawz Crash Your Stash challenge (I’ve had this cloud stencil since 2001 but just rediscovered it when organizing my stash. I love how it makes such delicate clouds with chalks and a makeup sponge.)

A Perfect Time to Craft 2020-Anything Goes- Challenge #1

My final  card for this posting brings back memories of my childhood. My mom was a talented seamstress and often made clothes for her brood… especially the three girls who loved party dresses! I have many photos of holidays during the 60's with all three of us wearing matching dresses, often with pretty lace and ribbons. (That is one reason I used this fun patterned paper with a retro feel to it.) One Christmas, mom even made matching dresses for our Barbies. Best surprise EVER!
