March Twofer Challenge

One of my favorite monthly challenges is called the "Twofer Card Challenge" which requires we use the exact same stamp or die to make two cards with distinctly different designs for two different occasions. The March Challenge is named "Your Choice” and I was first a little overwhelmed with ideas. But when I started digging through my stamp collections, I decided upon a sweet stamp that I inherited from my Mom's craft stash. She was my stamping buddy for a few decades… and loved all things feline! This little kitten was one of her favorites. (And I was thrilled to learn that it is still available for purchase on-line!)

Supplies:
·   Biblical Impressions Unmounted Stamp- (Kitten)
Entered into:
Twofer Card Challenge- #36 Your Choice

My first card features the kitten, plus two other stamps that my Mom loved using with the little furball- the spilled paint can and little feet prints! I remember when we came up with the idea to color his little paws to match the spilled paint and prints. The results are priceless! We also made an envelope to match with purple paw prints waltzing across it. (PS The inside sentiment reminds me that friends can be Purr-fect even if they aren't always perfect. Some of my best friends have a streak of playful mischievousness always ready to break out. And a few are major pranksters... but, to protect myself I'm not naming names!)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including TIME OUT Challenge- Do your DIFFERENT Thing (I made a CAS card which is a style that I rarely use!) I also just joined a new challenge that I stumbled upon that requires cats... and is getting close to 250 followers with a nice prize when they get there! Join now and you might win! Details HERE

Supplies:
·   Biblical Impressions Unmounted Stamp- (Spilled Paint)
·   Biblical Impressions Unmounted Stamp- (Tiny Cat Print)
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

Let’s Craft and Create- Ch #165-Anything Goes

My second card features the kitten, plus one of my favorite digi sets from Beccy’s Place named “Seasonal Windows.” I chose the window with the birdhouse because our cats always sat at the windows watching birds around the birdhouse and plotting how they could get close enough to play with them. (Ha!) The sentiment is a computer-generated favorite that I use quite a bit but this is the first time I’ve paired it with a cat. I also tried to find a scrap of patterned paper that would resemble wallpaper. I like this plaid for the pattern and bit of color it adds to the card. And in the smaller photo you can see a reflection of window light off of the acetate "glass."
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (my card features several colors from the inspiration photo plus includes a tree/leaves), and several cards with a Spring theme (I grew up in a house with several cats and they especially liked watching the birds in the Spring when they were actively nesting and finding food for the new babies. For that reason, we tried to keep them in the house at that time as my five siblings and I couldn’t imagine them getting to the baby birds!)

 Supplies:
·   Digi- Beccy’s Place Digital Set (Seasonal Windows)
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Sentiments- Computer Generated
·   Cardstock, acetate, and foam tape from my stash.

One added note- those of you who know me know that my first "DT Gig" was for the amazing Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place. She helped to introduce me to digi images and now I have dozens of her wonderful sets and a bunch of her freebies! I recently learned that Beccy is retiring many sets (many of them I have and LOVE) and you can nab them now for 50% off. Most of the sets are between $1.00 and $3.00 US but the sale ends April 30th... so check them out soon HERE

  8. Because we moved around so much when I was little (military family), we really didn't have pets. But I've always loved kitties, and as soon as I could, we had cats in the house! I love your little kitty on this sweet Twofer duo, Kathy! I can see why it was one of your mum's favorites. She works wonderfully on both of your cards. Had to smile at the paw prints! Had a kitten who did that once, too! Thank you so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. Stay safe. Bev

  13. I really enjoyed your mention of your Mom, Kathy, and how she loved this sweet kitty and how you made cards with her. How blessed you are to have those memories of your time together, especially coloring the little paws to match the paint. You've designed both a great CASlicious card and a great layered birthday card! Love the wallpaper and the messages! Thank you for playing in TCC #36! I hope you are keeping well. Hugs, Darnell

  16. All I can hear in my head is 'wow, wow, wow'!! I love both of these so much, your so clever. I think you should be making CAS cards more often, this is so sweet and love the fact you carried the design over to the middle of the card. As for the window scene, I never knew that digital stamps could be so intricate...have never seen these sorts of scenes before and I'm blown away!! Your colouring is spectacular and that sweet little kitten looks so at home. You really outdid yourself and I'm very happy you shared these both with us at TIME OUT!
