It's
time for another challenge at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are
always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.
Stop by the blog to check it out!
For this challenge, my DT card features a sweet (or should I say Tweet?!) image from Digi Doodles. I created the background with a makeup sponge, cloud stencil, and decorative chalks. Alcohol markers, a white gel pen, computer-generated sentiments , and a few puffy heart stickers finish off my card. Easy Peasy!
Supplies:
· Digi- Digi Doodles (Little Love Birds)
·
Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique
markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
· Puffy Heart Stickers- Sticko’s from WalMart (The pack contains 113 assorted puffy hearts for just 99 cents!)
· Sentiments- Computer Generated
· Cardstock, background paper, cloud

I’m
a regular at the Scribbles Designs Challenge, mainly because the people that “work”
there are very sweet, plus artist/owner Sandy designs some wonderful images. I’m
using one that I just added to my growing collection of Scribbles Designs on
this fun card! Named “Dress Shop” it is
from a new line of fun building images that Sandy recently added to her webshop. I
plan to one day have the whole collection as they are so fun. I created my
card to enter into the current Scribbles Designs challenge named The Power
of Eight (In honor of their 8th birthday.) The challenge requires that entries
include exactly 8 items. Here are my eight: Item 1- my card base, 2- brown paper
layer, 3- printed digi layer, 4- sentiment, 5- vellum layer behind the sentiment,
6- burgundy bow, 7- mini flower sequins in window box, 8-Stickles (on dress and sequin flower centers.)
Note-I
messed up when coloring the base of one of the mannequins in the window, so
covered my oops with a black marker. I liked the contrast it provided so I colored
the other two to match. Am thinking it adds a funky/trendy feeling to the store
window. (Since a young woman I mentored for a church program once told me
that I dressed like an escapee from a retirement community, funky/trendy is an
unfamiliar look for me. But I do like it on this card!)
I’m entering my card into several challenges including Di’s digi Stamps TicTacToe (middle column- hand-colored image, digi image, and bling/pearls)

Last fall I made 30 baby announcements for a couple of dear friends
who were welcoming their first little one to the family. I created an assortment of card designs from
which they could pick. Their theme was elephants, so I used this cute elephant
digi from Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH). This is one that they picked! To
simplify the process of making 30 cards, I appreciated that this digi came in a
pre-colored version. I just added a bit more contrast with a light grey marker
for shading, a bit more pink on the ears, and a white gel pen for highlights. The
inside is blank so they could attach a copy of their announcement details. (I’m
glad I remembered to take a photo of the card design before I sent them on so I’ll
remember how to make them in the future when needed. And I’ll be able to swap
the pink background with any other pastel-colored background. So cute!)

Gorgeous background Kathy, and how clever to use a make-up sponge! I imagine that to be perfectly soft to create the exact look you're trying to achieve with clouds. Your birdies are adorable, and I love your sentiments!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy this is such a lovely card. Those birds are so cute. Take care. Hugs Jackie

Lovely cards Kathy. I like how you brought Sandy's image to life. The flowers in the windowboxes are a lovely touch. Nice way of covering up your "ooops" on the mannequins too. Thank you for entering the Power of Eight Challenge at Scribbles Designs.

Well, weren't you busy!! Fabulous cards!! (That little elephant is so cute!!) Love the dress shop card; what a great image! And with its large size, it really doesn't need much for embellishing. I love your black dress forms; they look great! Thanks for playing with Di's Digi Designs.
