myasperations 1-31-25

I created this sweet card for Sweet November Stamp‘s monthly FB challenge. After printing and coloring the Fairwee Junie digi, I trimmed her from the cardstock, gently clipping off her wings. I traced the wings onto scraps of vellum, adding some length to the “insides” of the wings, which allowed me to easily tape them to Junie’s back. A scrap of red vellum was fussy-cut into the heart-shaped steam atop the coffee cup.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Time Out: Pick Two (my card features three of the six options- Heart-Lots of them. Layer-several of them, and Warm- red and pink are warm colors, plus a warm cup of coffee, complete with “steam”)

Supplies:
·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Fairwee Junie)
·   Coffee Cup-clear stamp from a Stampin’ Up set (retired)

·   Heart-shaped steam atop coffee made with a scrap of red vellum

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Backgroud paper- Hobby Lobby

·   Front Sentiment from my stash (it was on a coffee mug I saw many years ago. Not sure of the source,    and I couldn’t find it via web search)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Happy Valentine’s Day” (computer generated)

·   All other items from my stash.

I made this card for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Challenge (using its required January sketch). It features a free sheet music digi and a Dancin’ Santas Scrapbook border. I embellished the card front with two items fussy-cut from the border: one Santa (the leader of the dance line holding a candy cane) and one Santa hat perched on the first letter in the song title! I used a strip of the border to embellish the inside of the card... wrapping it with fun!
Supplies:
·   Sheet Music- Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree found HERE

·   Inside sentiment- scrapbook supplies booklet from Hobby Lobby

·   Dancin’ Santas border- from my scrapbook stash

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

This final card features a beautiful Moondrea Designs digi named Carnations, which was provided free to participants of their monthly Progressive FB Challenge. I have always loved pink carnations, so decided to use a pastel color scheme. Although you can’t see it in the photo, my card also has lots of sparkles from clear glitter swirls on the background of the card front (upcycled from an old wedding card), and from a “Wink of Stella” marker that adds sheen to the sheer section and lacy accents of the beauty’s blouse.
Supplies:
·   Digi- Moondrea Designs Digi (Carnations)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments from  Polka Dot Orchard Digi Set  (Younger Than Tomorrow)

·   ZIG Wink of Stella clear glitter brush marker

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

myasperations 1-21-25

This card reminds me of how my husband and I used to spend our winters- skiing (mainly cross-country), snowshoeing, skating and sledding! Sadly, hip replacements, MS and other health issues no longer allow such sports, but we still LOVE snow!  This sweet digi, “Attitude Changes Everything” from The Paper Shelter reminds me of the many times I had major wipe outs when skiing. Thankfully the only thing ever injured was my confidence!!  I colored the digi with a cool blue color palette and pulled items from my stash to create a wintery feeling to my card- snowy paper, sparkly snowflake stickers, and shades of blue cardstock.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Inspiration Station-Photo Prompt: (my card was inspired by the snowy photo’s background and winter season).

Supplies:

·   Digi- The Paper Shelter Digi Set (Attitude Changes Everything)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white and silver gel pens

·   Snowflake Stickers- Hobby Lobb

Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Fairy Folk)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

This fun digi, “Dimble the Ale Destroyer” from Dr. Digi was fun to color, embellished with silver metallic paper and silver gel pen and marker.  The sentiment was inspired by a Hallmark Card. I printed off a separate copy of the beer stein which I used to embellish the inside if the card.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including the Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge (my card reflects this month’s two cues-Circles and Cute… although not everyone might think of a gnomish-looking Viking as “cute.” As for me, I’ve been married to a 100-proof Norwegian for 47 years, and although he is not quite the “Thor” that he used to be, I still think he is the most adorable man alive!), Park Hopping-My Happy Place (I visited the inspiration listing that sponsor Makira offers at this wonderful challenge site, and found a listing for “Alcohol” at “Drinking around the world” at Epcot in Orlando. The link also notes, “Now we know when we say “Drinking around the world,” most people think we’re referring to alcoholic beverages, but we’re actually going to break down our list for each pavilion and give you THREE options: a beer or wine, a cocktail, and a non-alcoholic beverage.” As a drug prevention specialist for 40 years, I provided classes to hundreds of people, of all ages, sharing options for celebrating that allow people to have a fun time that is safe and they'll remember in the morning! So, it is nice to see that Disney also promotes healthy options!)

I found the wonderful digi on this card a few years ago. It is a freebie from Graphics Fairy, a site where I’ve found many unique images. This pre-colored image was scanned from the box of the Irish doll in the collection of 20 different Retro Dolls of the World. The site's sponsor notes that there was no copyright on the box, but these dolls are Circa 1940’s.

This card features a warm and cuddly image from Di’s Digi named Wooly Ted. The background is a lovely freebie I found on the web many years ago. I reformatted the color scheme from brights to grey and pink, to create this unusually colored Christman card.

Since I’m a DT for All Dressed Up (one of the sponsors), please don’t include me in the draw for their prize!

This sweet Valentine's image is a freebie from Tiddly Inks. I’m not sure if the critter is a porcupine or a hedgehog, but I opted for the latter, and I think he looks cute, and not too stickery! I wanted to make a card to enter into the current Snippets Challenge, so I pulled out my scraps folders and picked assorted strips in reds, pinks, and neutral colors! Although weaving the pieces together was more tedious than I'd planned I like the way the background turned out. I used some of the same colors on the digi, plus helped the little Hedgie to stand out from the “busy” background by sliding a red cardstock heart beneath him. (I did take a closeup of the card, and added that photo below since the shading and different colors stand out a bit more clearly with less light glare.) I also cut a circle from the woven background (from an area that the digi covers) to place behind the inside sentiment, carrying the colors and pattern to the inside of the card.
An added note: Although Christy Croll, the artist and owner of Tiddly Inks, closed her challenge blog a few years ago, she has maintained the site to allow access to coloring tutorials and several freebies (including this image) HERE and sells a nice assortment of digis in her Etsy shop HERE.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Wednesday Sketch (my card reflects this month's shape and cues-Circle and Cute.)
Supplies:

·   Digi- Tiddly Inks Freebie “Be Mine” (you can find this digi, plus more, in the Freebies section of the blog HERE)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

This card is for my brother's birthday, and I know he will love its snarky sentiment, especially because he is three years older than I am! The card features a cute little boy and a weathered wood-framed window that brings the beauty of a pretty fall day inside. A scrap of acetate and foam tape helps to add some depth to the card, which you can see in the closeup photo taken from the side.
I love this weathered window and was saddened to learn that the link where I found it a few years ago is no longer active. However, I originally found the frames for free through the Gecko Galz Blogspot and FB page. Both regularly offer nice digital images… sometimes free!
