I purchased this sweet
Unicorn digi years ago from Bugaboo Stamps and was saddened when the company
closed during COVID. It is one of my favorite Unicorn digis. For this card, I created
the background with and upcycled calendar page and scraps of blue papers. The
sentiment is computer-generated, and sparkles were added to the main and tail
with a Silver Stardust gel pen. (Note, on the
calendar page that I used, there is a pastel rainbow across the sky. For some
reason my lighting is turning it into a bright glare in my photo. The lighting
also shows folds in the blue paper used in the background, which I barely noticed
until I took this photo. Hmmm, cardmaking is my “gig”. Being a photographer is definitely
NOT!)

I purchased several gift bags on the Christmas
Clearance rack a few years ago mainly because they were so sparkly!! When they
resurfaced when decluttering, I decided to trim them into A2 sized pieces and file
them away with my Christmas supplies. But first, I made a card for the current
challenge at the ABC Christmas Challenge- L is for lights!' My cards usually take hours to create… but I
clocked this beauty “done” at 20 minutes! Supplies:
·
Christmas lights- upcycled from a gift bag from the local Dollar Tree (sparkly
ones on front of bag, plain ones on sides)
·
Front Sentiment “Merry
and Bright”- from a Beccy’s Place Digi
Set (Christmas Cardinals)
·
Inside Sentiment- “Wishing You a Bright and
Happy Christmas” from a Beccy’s Place
Digi Set (Jingle Bells)
·
Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

This Father’s Day Card
features a stamp that I purchased back when I was making cards for members of
our military through Operation Write Home. Since I live in a state where Harley
Davidson Motorcycles reign, I use it quite often. I gave the cycle an
impression of speed by stamping it with black ink on glossy cardstock. Then,
while the ink is still wet, I gently pull my index finger across the ink from
the front of the motorcycle to trail behind it. I then added additional
details to the image with a red marker, and white and silver gel pens. I added an additional sign of movement by cutting an arrow from a red scrap of paper and adhered the motorcycle onto it. Cutting a circle from the starry paper further helped to draw attention to the cycle, plus allowed me to enter the card into a few circle themed challenges.
A bit of history- I grew
up in a Harley Davidson-loving family. My dad and two brothers were mechanics,
so we had several Harleys! I loved the feeling of speed, but it also scared me.
So, I preferred to be on the back of the bike, or in the side-car, flying down
the road, feeling the wind- and often bugs-on our faces! Zoomzoom!)

Wow Kathy, the card you entered over at Word Art Wednesday is so clever! I love how you used gift bags. I think that's such a great idea and I'm going to keep it in mind especially at Christmas. It seems that many of them get a little damaged on one side but this is such a good idea to salvage the bag. All your cards here are great too. Thanks so much for playing along with us at WAW!
ReplyDeleteI love this colorful Unicorn and your interpretation of our photo this month is so creative. Thanks for playing along at The Inspiration Station Challenge and sharing your lovely card with us. Please stop in and share again soon.
