myaspertions 5-2-25

This is my DT card for All Dressed Up Stamps FB ChallengeThe theme this month is "For the Boys" and my card features a digi image named “Time to Cool Off.” I just love the details that artist Wendy Burns added to this little cutie, especially his floral swimming suit! I wanted the little guy to fit into the background scene, but fussy-cutting the detailed digi would have been difficult. So I traced a circle around the digi, cut it out, and laid it atop the background. After lightly sketching the waves and beach line with a pencil, I lightly filled in the scene with colored pencils and decorative chalks. Sentiments and a little balloon finish off the card. So fun!
PS- You can check out  Wendy's new images, plus many best seller favorites on the All Dressed Up Etsy  Make sure to creat a wish list because if you enter any cards, using ADU digis into this month's FB challenge you might win 3 of the All Dressed Up digis.)

I was honored when an entry into the March Coffee Loving PaperCrafters/Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge won me a Guest DT spot for the May Challenge. When I learned that the theme would be “Flowers”, I began searching through my stamps and digis for a coffee/hot chocolate digi and Christmas floral digi to pair with it. The results were a precolored, and very yummy, mug of hot chocolate from Beccy’s Place (the digi that also earned me this GDT gig!) and a lovely Poinsettia background digi from Stamplorations.
Although Beccy Muir’s pre-colored digis are beautiful, I like to make them my own by adding patterns, plus additional shading, and highlights with grey markers and my trusty white gel pen! I used a soft touch and a light color scheme when coloring the poinsettia background, and muted the image a bit more by sandwiching a piece of vellum between the mug and flower digis.
(Two added notes- 1) STAMPlorations artist/owner Shery Russ was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer a few years ago. Her shop has remained open in a slightly limited capacity. I just checked and was excited to see that Stamps (clear and digital) and dies are available to buy individually. They are once again shipping internationally, and are offering 10% off all orders!)
      2) Late last year, Beccy Muir, artist/owner of Beccy’s Place, announced that she would be discontinuing her digi line on June 30th (she explains the reasons for this difficult decision HERE.) Since then, Beccy added a “Digital Stamp Sale” section to her shop, in which she has posted a large number of digis and sets from the past, priced from $3.00 to as low as 31¢ (US rate.) So, if you have plans to add any of her digi sets to your collection, or have any gift cards you need to use, you still have a few months to go shopping.
