myasperations 5-22-25

It's May 22nd, and time for a new challenge at Time Out... where I'm honored to be a Guest DT!  (You can see my winning entry HERE.) I love the name of this challenge, And especially the reason for it as noted in its "How to Play" list-  "Above all, take TIME OUT of your busy life, craft a little and have some fun!"
This new challenge, named "Your Favorite Winged Thing," invites us to incorporate things like a bird, insect, fairy, angel, or even a plane into our projects!  My card features a sweet digi from All Dressed Up named "Busy Little Bee." I highlighted the little cutie with patterned papers and sentiments from my stash. I also dug into my mom's stash of fabrics, lace, and ribbons, which I inherited in 2003, and found a delicate strip of antique bobbin lace* that I turned into a delicate little tutu!
I encourage you to enter a project (or up to five projects!) featuring your favorite winged thing into this challenge. If the Time Out Design Team chooses your project as a winner, you might even win a $25.00 store credit from the sponsor, Lawn Fawn. The challenge winner is also invited to be a Guest Designer for a future challenge, which I can tell you is fun!!
    * NOTE- I come from a long line of women who enjoyed "handwork" and "needlework." Mom enjoyed embroidery and crochet, while my grandmother and great-grandmother expertly made tatted and bobbin lace. I remember watching my grandmothers' hands as she tatted, moving the weird-looking "shuttle" as she tied teeny-tiny knots, over and over and over (see HERE.)  I never met my great-grandmother, but I think this is a bit of her bobbin lace. (I wasn't sure of the difference between the two types of lace, so I did a bit of research and realized that they may look similar, but the process of making them is quite different. Bobbin lacemaking requires the skill of extremely focused attention! Hop over HERE  to see what I mean.

All Dressed Up- Anything Goes (May #162
Since I’m a DT for ADU FB Challenge, I’m entering just for fun. Please don’t include me in the prize draw!

My first entry into the Time Out Challenge features amazingly lifelike bee digis from The Graphics Fairy. I printed, fussy-cut, and adhered them to any upcycled photo of honey on the front of the card, and to patterned paper on the inside. The final touches to the card was a bit of sparkle on the bee’s wings, and to add their “flight paths” with little dashes from a fine-line black marker.
An added note- Beccy Muir, artist/owner of Beccy’s Place, is discontinuing her digi line on June 30th (she explains the reasons for this difficult decision HERE). So, if you have plans to add any of her digi sets to your collection, or have any gift cards you need to use, you will need to do that soon. Beccy added a “Digital Stamp Sale” section to her shop, in which she has posted many individual digis and sets from the past, priced from $3.50 to as low as 31¢ (US rate). I often use sentiments from Beccy’s digi sets on my cards, so I paid attention not just to the images but also the sentiments in the sets as I filled my cart with these treasures!

·   Jar of Honey picture- upcycled from a grocery ad

The sponsor for Mays Outlawz Progressive Challenge is Sandra, and I had fun creating an unusual graduation card using her Pencils and eraser digis. I used lots of supplies from my stash, “old-school lined paper”, alphabet patterned paper, small spiral notepad, to and from sentiments, a sweet little bluebird from some scrapbook supplies, and a jumbo “pre-school” pencil that I used to write (and erase) the sentiment on the front of the card. The wonderful graduation silhouette on the inside of the card is a free SVG that I printed off as a digi image. Easy Peasy!
Supplies:
·    Z-Fold Card- Instructions can be found HERE.

·    Sandra's School Supplies Digis (Freebie for Outlaws May 2025 Progressive Challenge)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Graduation Silhouettes (inside of card)- A freebie from apexembdesigns.com HERE

·   Front Sentiment- handwritten

·   Inside Sentiment- Freebie from Desert Diva (Congrats You Did It!)

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.
