I colored the cute guy with Spectrum Noir markers and
attached him to fun background paper that mimics his spots. I printed off an
extra copy of the dinos birthday hat and used it to adorn the inside sentiment.
The
digital image AND sentiment are both from both from Stamp On It
(Note: Prices at Stamp On It are very reasonable (this
dinosaur digi is just $2!) and there is currently a site-wide 10%
discount on regular priced items, and free shipping on purchases over $30. Just

Friday also means that I
get to share DT cards for the Colour Crazy Challenge. This challenge is also an “Anything Goes”
but it adds a requirement- the creation needs to include coloring in “any
colouring medium you like, onto any project you like, and in any colours you
like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring… which is why making cards is
stress therapy for me! Our sponsor this week is
Jan’s Digi Stamps and my gatefold DT card features a
beautiful image and sentiment from a set named “Country Flowers.” (The digi set
includes this wonderful image and sentiment, plus two additional sentiments and
a sweet little bee, all for just $4!) The lovely bouquet reminds me of my sweet
Mother, as her flower gardens provided a bright shout of color every season. Spectrum
Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen bring the flowers to life. A
square doily, sheer ribbon, and little cross-stitch butterfly provide a vintage feeling. I extended the vintage look
to the inside of the card by embellishing the sentiment with a strip of the
doily. Note- the small cross stitch butterfly was from my mom's
craft stash. Isn't it precious? I'll be sending
this card to one of my sisters, who will also treasure the little reminder of our sweet mom.
I am entering this into several challenges including the Butterfly
Challenge (it includes two of the Colors- Xanad [Grey/green] and
Xiketic [Black] , and the two themes- X
fold and Xtra colors plus a Butterfly.)

I wanted to
make a card for the current “Books” challenge at Incy Wincy
Designs, so I
started looking through my stamps and digi files. I found this
wonderful Bugaboo image
named “Book Sitter 2” (version 1 features a little
girl). I also found this sentiment in my
computer files that fits
the theme AND perfectly it fits with the
current COVID situation.
I got to work, printing off the digi, plus a freebie book
digi from winkwinkwink. (This
book stack is already pre-colored. I loved
the muted colors, and just added a bit of shading
and highlights with markers
and a white gel pen.) Printed off an extra copy of the little
readers book, legs and
feet, colored, fussy-cut and attached them with foam tape to add a bit
of depth
to the card. Also added a little bling and texture by adding a tiny clover
charm to a
strip of ribbon and making a “bookmark” that I inserted into a
small slit I cut in the book
with an Exacto knife. (When I took the photos I
noticed that the reader wasn’t perched in
quite the right place on the top book.
Actually, right now I can hear the voice of one of my
favorite art teachers, a
Nun name Sister Francis, in my head saying, “Now, Kathleen, check
that
perspective. Where SHOULD he be placed to look like he is actually sitting on
that top
book?!” The answer? For proper perspective, he should be sitting right
along the front edge
of the book so that his legs hung down directly over that book's spine. I doubt that many
people would notice that, but I have to share the
information because… well, otherwise it
wouldn’t be fair to Sister Francis!
