My
final entry for the current Butterfly Challenge features an image from a Dover
Publications coloring book named Creative Haven Festive Mexican Talavera Designs.
I signed up the Dover weekly newsletter
a while ago from and have appreciated that it regularly emails links to a half
dozen coloring and activity books, each offering 4-5 pages that are available
for a short time as free downloads. Sign up for the sampler newsletter to start
getting your own treasures.) I
printed off two A2 sized copies of an intricately framed
butterfly digi, then colored them
with Spectrum Noir markers and a
Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. Using
the instructions provided on the Butterfly Challenge site, I created a Tunnel Card. (I realized when I just checked the instructions
again that I didn’t follow them very closely. I created a tri-fold card with a window
cutout on the front, and l cut the second butterfly print to create layers with
foam tape. So, am not sure it will qualify as a tunnel card but it was fun to
create. (Mrs. A, feel free to add this to the lower categories of using one
color- thistle and one theme- butterfly, if it doesn’t qualify in the Tunnel
Card!)
I am entering this into a few other challenges including Outlawz Tuesday
TicTac Toe (middle column- I used several colors from the rainbow, gold photo
corners, and the doodles in the image resemble the crocheted edging on the
macaroons!)

My last card this post features an
adorable digi and sentiment from Beccy's Place named “Stanley in the Rain.” I
wanted to make a fancy fold to be able to enter this into a current Bugaboo challenge
and decided upon a Bridge Fold Card. (My favorite tutorial for this easy to
make card can be found HERE.) I printed Stanley on kraft paper and
colored just his head, ears and hands. I printed an extra copy of Stanley onto
white paper, colored the hat, boots, and raincoat, then fussy-cut and paper-pieced
them atop the colored kraft Stanley. I free-form cut “grass” that I colored
with a few shades of green then added flower stickers. Added the sentiment, adorned
with flowers and a few “raindrop” stickers. So fun! Am entering this into a few other challenges including three that focus
on SPRING- Cute Card Thursday, Outlawz Saturday (making a splash challenge), and
Outlawz Twisted Thursday (Hoodie Hoo which is celebrated in the USA on the 20th
of February. Supposedly, people go out at noon,
wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo" to chase
away winter blahs, and bring in spring. I have never participated in this event,
but I am so sick and tired of winter that I might practice this routine weekly
until Spring actually arrives!)
