Had fun using this freebie from Gerda Steiner named "Graduation Owl" [A few freebies are available on the site. Others are sent out occasionally in their newsletter. Find the freebies and sign up for the newsletter here gsd-stamps.com] I printed off two Owls in different sizes, colored them with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, and fussy-cut them, removing the graduation caps. Punched snowflakes from white cardstock and vellum, plus used a Christmas tag and two short pieces of ribbon to make the card front. The sentiment on the front is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "Seasonal Windows" and the inside sentiment is from a stamp that I picked up at a thrift store a few years ago. It was no longer on the wood block so the company is unknown. Am entering the card into several other challenges including the annual Bugaboo Stamps Holiday Chaos week, Day 1- Snow, the Outlawz Tuesday TicTacToe [diagonal from lower left- red/white stripes, sentiment, and tag], and Cute Card Thursday "Recycle Something." [The tag on this card was on a gift that I received last Christmas. I loved the vintage look, so cut the "to" and "from" from the center of the tag and adhered a scrap of patterned paper to use it to frame the cute little owl.]

I had so much fun making a Christmas card each day of November for Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards that I'm not quite ready to stop. So I was glad to see that Beccy had already posted her December Challenge, "Flowers and Plants," when I was ready to start crafting today. I'd printed off a few extra of Beccy's adorable little bear named Miss Penelope so will put her on my card [find her here- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2009/11/printable-1_21.html] I'd also punched out extra snowflakes for my Gerda Steiner card so they are also on this card. Lastly, used a foliage die to create the wreath that frames little Miss Penelope. The sentiment on the front of the card is from a Beccy's Place digi set named "True Beauty" and the inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com) Am entering the card into several other challenges including the Power Poppy Confetti Challenge TicTacToe [diagonal from upper left- red, die cut, green.]

My final card for this posting is for the December challenge at SumMore Fun's FB page. I used a Victorine Originals image named "Winter Drink" that was a freebie provided to their newsletter subscribers earlier this year and is now available for purchase in their shop. [You can purchase the digi image here victorineoriginals.com/products/winter-drink-digital-stamp or sign up for the newsletter here- vostamps.blogspot.com/search/label/newsletter] As a newsletter subscriber I was also alerted to a New Release contest in October. I entered and won a paper pad that I used the create the "quilted" background on this card. The paper pad has so many great patterns and colors that I've already used half of them. I've colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and white gel pen. The sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com) and the puffy heart stickers are from a pack that I found at Walmart. [It contains 113 assorted puffy hearts for just 99 cents.] I entered this card into several challenges including Bugaboo Stella's Sketch [I flipped it sideways].

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love the quilted card you made and entered into the SumMore Fun challenge! What a darling card. It makes me feel warmer just looking at it!
ReplyDeleteYour owl card is so clever Kathy, love that you've extended the use of the image by removing his mortar board hat. Great job on the colouring and embellishments, I love the mix of snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great idea to frame Miss Penelope with a wreath, it looks fabulous and meets the additional challenge. The inside of the card looks wonderful too, I'm impressed by all the work you're putting inside each one you make Kathy, they look great.
You did a wonderful job interpreting the sketch for your last card, I like the idea of flipping it on it's side. The mug with the winter mittens are are wonderful and your background is fabulous. Love the quilted look.
Cheers,
Beccy
