myasperations 9-15-25

This year, Path of Positivity is challenging you to Embrace the Unexpected!  This month's theme is "Take a Walk & Find Inspiration from Something Unexpected that You See Along Your Route.” (More theme info is available HERE.)  This theme is optional, so as long as your creation is positive or encouraging in some way, enter it into the POP challenge, for a chance to win $6 worth of images from our sponsor, Scribbles Designs, and/or be honored as one of our special "picks"!

On my walk, I was happy to see neighbors enjoying a last hot day of summer on their deck with tall glasses of icy lemonade. I was even happier when they asked me to join them!
My card features a freebie from Scribbles Designs named Pitcher & Drink . I used a fine-line permanent black marker to trace the digi onto a scrap of acetate, creating a clear pitcher and glass. A few scraps of yellow vellum cut to size, slid into place became the lemonade, then adhered it to the acetate with small strips of double-stick tape! Then I added my favorite embellishments- condensation droplets! Using the permanent marker, I drew little water droplets onto the front of the acetate, then used a grey alcohol marker to add a bit of shading. When the shading was dry, I added a little dollop with a white gel pen to get a realistic look. (Just a heads up, I practiced this technique on a scrap of acetate before I tried it on the actual card front!)
The beautiful background scene is an upcycled painting from an old calendar.  After cutting it to size and attaching it to the card front, I created a table top with a scrap of woodgrain patterned paper, and added a “tablecloth” with a scrap from a small plastic doily. The final photo includes the signature of the painting’s artist. (Sadly, I can't quite decipher it!)
Supplies:
·    Background scene is upcycled from an old calendar
·    Digi-Freebie from  Scribbles Designs (Pitcher & Drink)

·    Black Fine-line Sharpie Marker is used to trace the digis and condensation droplets onto acetate scraps

Due to a family health issue, I am not able to finish the rest of this posting tonight. I'll be back in the AM to fill in the missing info/sections. Thanks for understanding!

I made this card to enter into several fall-themed challenges that are being held right now! It features a cute digital image from Sweet November Stamps, named Summer Breeze, and I’m thinking she might also enjoy a warm fall breeze, too! The beautiful pre-colored background scene is a freebie from one of my favorite FB sites (See details in supplies list) Free Printables for your Junk Journaling with TLC.
After I colored and fussy-cut the sweet digi, put all the pieces together, adding a layer between the background and the digi so that she didn’t get overpowered by the brightly colored scene.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Time Out Challenge: Favorite Season (My favorite season is Fall. I love the colors of leaves and pumpkins, plus the pumpkin spice coffee and DQ pumpkin pie Blizzards that appear every fall!)
Supplies:
·  Fall Scene through the window- Free Printables for your Junk Journaling with TLC (FB) (The group sponsor, Paulette Slater, provides dozens of free sentiments and digis on a monthly basis to site members. If you join, you can access this digi HERE)

·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Summer Breeze)

·  Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment- “Bring on the Pumpkin Spice” Freebie from LoveSVG (no longer available)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Fall Breeze…” Freebie from LoveSVG (no longer available)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

I wanted to create a few more cards featuring Tim Holtz Found Relatives cutouts for the Simon Says Ephemera Challgne. They are so fun to pair with funny sentiments, and this free sentiment from Gingershouse Blogspot really resonates with me! The base of the card features a scrap of very old light blue mulberry paper from a roll I found at a local thrift store. (A very vintage label read “Drawer Liner” was wrapped around the thickly textured roll of paper. The paper was also very lightly printed with trailing vines covered with small flowers. I highlighted them with white and gold Liquid Pearls.) After layering the mulberry paper, photos and a few paper doilies onto the card, I added the sentiments and TaDa… let the fun begin!

Supplies:

·    Vintage Portrait- from Simon Says (Tim Holtz idea-ology FOUND RELATIVES)

·    Sentiment (divided into two sections)- freebie from Gingershouse Blogspot (I am not an early bird…)

·    Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·    Liquid Pearls- White Opal, and Buttercup

·    Mulberry paper, paper doilies, other misc. items and tools from my stash.

myasperations 9-14-25a

This is my final entry into Double D’s “Musical Challenge and it was fun to create. A few years ago, I found a vintage Scrabble game at a local thrift store. It “resurfaced” when I was de-cluttering the closet in my craft room, and I decided to use a few of the wooden tiles to make a wedding card. Because the tiles are thick, I opted to photocopy a pageful of them, then fussy-cut the letters L, V, and E. I didn't need an O, because I filled that space with a lovely little diamond ring sticker!  I embellished the front and inside sentiments with little pink hearts cut from scraps of colored plastic index divider sheets. (If you follow my blog, you’ll know that I use these wonderful items quite often. They come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores, and occasionally in dollar stores. They're cheaper than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these sheets, but they are easy to fussy cut with a sharp pair of scissors. And you can use templates or stencils to trace shapes onto them with a permanent fine-line marker. You can adhere the plastic in place with small strips of double-sided tape.)
An added note- the gold foiled sentiment on the card front doesn't show up very well in the square photo. So, I took a close-up photo with different lighting, which shows the entire sentiment.

This card is my first entry into the Sweet November Stamps September (SNS) Challenge, where the optional theme is “Fall Colors.”  I had fun using an SNS digi named “Hot Coffee Mouse” who appears to be bringing a cup of pumpkin spice coffee home from the little café seen through the window!  (BTW- that Fall café scene is currently a freebie from one of my favorite FB sites Free Printables for your Junk Journaling with TLC.  The group sponsor, Paulette Slater, provides dozens of free sentiments and digis every month. You can also search for specific items or topics.  This beautifully pre-colored fall scene, plus two others, is currently available free to members. See details in my supplies section.)

My final card this posting is another yummy one for the chocolate/sweets theme at Park Hopping. Many of the items on this card were discovered while I was decluttering my craft room. I remember buying the lovely Jolee's Boutique Box Of Chocolates sticker before we moved to our current home, so it’s at least 12 years old. The “dry embossed” white framed beneath the candy box was made even longer ago, using a brass stencil, a metal stylus, and a light box. (I no longer have a light box, but do the other items in my stash.)

Supplies:

·    3-D Sticker (Box Of Chocolates) from Jolee's Boutique stickers (this set no longer appears available)

·    Embossed white frame beneath candy box on card front created years ago with brass

·    Inside Sentiment- “Happy Valentine's Day” from a Hero Arts Digital set (retired)

· Long-stemmed rose embellishments were fussy-cut from the rose-patterned paper.

·    Silver photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

I recently purchased a set of Tim Holtz Found Relatives cutouts and had a lot of fun using them to create cards with humorous sentiments. This sentiment is a bit snarky/mean… but I thought it was a good fit for the look on the vintage woman’s face. And… my husband said it was his all-time favorite of the cards I've made. So I hope it isn’t too offensive? And maybe even provide you with a giggle or guffaw? (The card also fits nicely into the current challenge at Simon Says Wednesday: Layer it up/Use Ephemera)

I’m having fun creating yummy cards for the chocolate/sweets theme at Park Hopping. This one took some time to pull together because I needed to piece together the “ransom note” with words found, fussy-cut and pasted in place. A freebie sentiment, chocolate themed, carries the fun into the inside of the card. The final touches were to embellish the front and inside of the card with luscious chocolates (stickers) and chocolate fingerprint smears (made with my fingers and a brown ink pad!)
I’m entering this card into several challenges, including Colorful Options: Color Board AG (my card features 3 of the colors, and a shade of red that might qualify as light burgundy?)
Supplies:

·    Stickers of Yummy Chocolates- Dollar Tree

·    Front Sentiment- "Hand over the chocolate..." created with words cut from assorted old magazines

·    Inside Sentiment- “Chocolate doesn’t ask silly questions…”- freebie from skogstokiga.blogspot.com- (Sadly, blog is closed)

·    Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.
