Christmas in July- Day 7

I can’t believe we are at the final challenge of Bugaboo’s “Christmas in July” celebration. Day 7 is a color challenge and I used a fun digi from The Paper Shelter that helped me to feature all of the colors.  I really like how this digi fits so beautifully into the patterned digi background that comes with it in the set. So fun! All I needed to add was some coloring, two sentiments, and a few glittery stickers to create an adorable card.

        Since I’m a DT for the sponsor of this challenge, I’m entering just for fun! 

I’m loving Christmas in July this year because I’ve added so many new Christmas stamps, digis, dies, and embellies to my stash over the last year. This sweet digi from Ching-Chou Kuik joined my CCK collection earlier this year and it was fun to create a card featuring “Christmas Elf.” Since the current challenge theme for CCK is to use dies and/or punches, I punched gold stars (from an upcycled bag from Door County Coffee. One of our favorite Wisconsin products) and used a set of Stampendous dies that I won in a challenge a few years ago but hadn’t yet used.

So… am able to enter this card into the NBUS Challenge (Never Before Used Schtuff!) and also since it is packed full of embellies, I’m entering it into the Outlaws Saturday Challenge “Fancy” (I looked up the word Fancy. It is an ADJECTIVE that means “elaborate in structure or decoration.” In other words, the opposite of CAS. Since creating CAS cards  is always difficult for me, I guess I’m more of a Fancy gal! On second thought, I might be more "fussy" than fancy as apparent on the inside of the card where I added a tree made with a scrap of green paper as part of the backdrop. Plus, I sketched around the inside of the sentiment with a fine line permanent black marker and dotted the 'i' with a silver star and little heart-shaped gem. Sometimes I just can't stop myself from adding more details!)

Living in Wisconsin where dairy farms are everywhere means that EVERY day is Ice Cream Day! However, I appreciate that July is the "officially designated" Ice Cream Month and July 19^th was National Ice Cream Day. So, I wanted to make a card to commemorate the event. I opted for an iris fold card (using a free template) so pulled lots of pink scraps from my stash for the cool treat, plus used scraps of tan vinyl wallpaper from an old sample book to create the cone. (The scraps have lots of texture and a mottled pattern that works perfectly for the cone!) The inside sentiment made me laugh out loud when I found it on a wonderful blog, named Gingershouse, which is jam-packed full of freebie sentiments. This was one of my favs… maybe because in my job I work closely with our police department and sheriff’s office. I think this card might just go to our Chief of Police who is an amazing guy with a quirky sense of humor!
