Yay for Spring

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com) This week, I used a wonderful digi from one of the challenge sponsors, Hetty Clare, named "Ducks Day Out."  I absolutely love the ducks on this image. Aren't they adorable in their antics?
I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and then used a technique called "Eclipse" to highlight the sweet image. You can find an excellent tutorial HERE. Actually, Beccy's Place has a huge list of tutorials available. It is my 'go-to' place when I want to learn a new technique or fold. Check it out.) I used a Darice dry embossing folder and yellow vellum to create the sentiment on the front of the card. The sentiment on the inside is a freebie from a We Are 3 Digital Sentiment set named "Harvest." You can find it HEREAm entering this card in several challenges including the Butterfly Challenge "#120 Letter D" with one of the required colors [Denim blue] and two of the themes [Digi image and Diamond shape, plus a little butterfly]. Simon Says Monday "Down on the Farm" [ducks often live there], Simon Says Wednesday "Animal Antics" [this trio does look pretty lively and inquisitive], and Outlawz Tuesday Color challenge "TicTacToe" [center row: Cute Easter critters- a duck or three could fit into this photo, Free Space and the final photo includes feathers and a note about enjoying Spring and wide open spaces, which the ducks are practicing.]

My final card in this post provides another nice shout-out to Spring- Peonies! This lovely image is a freebie from Beccy's Place. You can find it HERE. I colored it with Tombow watercolor markers, adding some highlights with a white gel pen and white watercolor pencil. I really like the beauty of this translucent vase, which was fun to color.  I usually decorate the inside of my cards. But am not sure when I'll use this card, so am leaving it blank inside for now.

I'm currently in a book study with a few friends at my church. Made a few of these cards that include a bookmark. [I have a serrated blade for one of my paper cutters. I used it to serrate the flap so that the bookmark can easily be torn from the card. The background paper for the card front and flap/bookmark is upcycled from a calendar. The sentiment is printed on vellum and attached to the card with a jeweled brad. I left the inside blank so that I could write a lengthy note.

  1. I do like your take on the diamond theme. Very clever. I like a your colouring of the Beccy'sPlace digi ( flowers in vase). I coloured this digi up whilst on holiday last year and must say you have made a much better job of it than me. I have mine in my file still to make up into a card. Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me this week. Hugs Mrs. A.

  3. Beautiful cards Kathy, your colouring is fabulous as always! I'm sensing a floral theme here, and what pretty florals they are too. I always enjoy your upcycled projects, you have such great ideas for how to reuse or recycle items. Great job!
