Created this card using a digi set [image and both sentiments] from Beccy's Place named "You're a Hoot" and a wonderful template and tutorial named "Owl in a Hollow Log" [you can find it here- strongstamps.blogspot.com/2014/06/owl-in-hollow-log-card.html] The card went together pretty quickly and I love the way it turned out.

The monthly challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven [LSOH] is to create a Halloween card. I made a card using LSOH's image named "Little Frank." I used to scrapbook and had made Halloween pages with this haunted house scene. I reduced my template down to A size and used scraps to make this card… oh, and one ghost sticker that is hovering near a 2nd floor window. The card base is a Double Triangle Fold [tutorial here- splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/doubletrianglefold] The Happy Halloween sentiment is a freebie [ find it here- birdscards.com/teenween-card-first-posted-thursday-october-29-2009]. I created the Eeek sentiment plus moon and bats that serve as the base of the Happy Halloween sentiment. I wanted to make the jack-o-lantern look like it had depth, so I used an exacto knife to cut the eyes, nose and mouth from the card. Then mounted the jack-o-lantern onto a scrap of yellow paper with thick foam tape squares.

One of the current challenges at wecraftcards Forum is to create a card that features brown [plus white, cream and black if needed.] When looking for inspiration, I stumbled upon this wonderful bag that I've had in my stash for many years. I love the way the swirls look against the brown background so just had to upcycle it. I also used two scrapbook tags [one on the front and one inside], brown ribbon, a few diamond rhinestones, and a brown rub-on butterfly. The pretty filigree butterfly on the inside of the card is a sticker, once again, from my scrapbook stash.

One of Simon Says Stamps challenges this week is to create a tag. I attempted to make a mixed media tag using two skeleton leaves that I found at Goodwill a short time ago plus a wonderful freebie sentiment from lovesvg.com. Scraps of scrapbook leaf paper, sheer ribbon in two colors and yellow, rust and gold rhinestones finished the tag with style.

Fabulous projects Kathy, well done! I love the "tree" you created for the first card, what a great idea to have the little owl peeping out through a hole. The second card has some very cute characters, the little monster is really sweet. I like the interesting fold too.
ReplyDeleteThe "Happiness" card is lovely, I really like seeing a combination of browns and creams. I was surprised to read that the butterfly was a sticker, I thought I was looking at a little piece of lace.
Your autumn inspired tag is fabulous, what great colours! I like the skeleton leaf in the background and way you've tied the pieces of ribbon together. Well done.
Cheers,
Beccy
