Flutterbys, Fairies and More

I have always loved Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairy Illustrations. So was thrilled when TLC (createwithtlc.blogspot.com) offered a few free digis of the fairies a while ago. Decided to finally print off and color a few of them. I found a photo of the original illustration of this one, Candytuft Fairy, on the web and colored the image with both alcohol and Tombow markers. Decided to add glitter to the wings and then added it several other places. Because… well… fairies and glitter often go together, don’t they?

Another entry for the CAS-ual Friday’s CASE a Girl Friday’s (DT) Card Challenge. This time I was inspired by a striking card created by Channin. I have a ton of rhinestones and had fun creating sweet little butterflies to flutter around the whimsical sentiment.
And Channin's card that inspired me:

Have been having so much fun making CAS animal cards… especially because I am discovering that I have lots of animal stamps. And a growing collection of animal digis! This sweet little image from Beccy's Place is named Stanley’s Bauble. I kept coloring to a minimum, just adding a bit of shading. Used patterned background paper, plus a scrap of green vellum, and a bit of sparkly silver gel pen to finish up the card. (And I'm entering one Christmas challenge that requires "Leaves." I'm assuming that a pine needle is actually a leaf, right? (Actually, I just looked it up. And learned that a needle IS a leaf. In the process, I found some neat site. here is one of them! I even love the name of it- friendsoftrees.org)

I love this coloring card that I picked up at a church conference last summer. Was fun to color, and a bit of bling makes it pop. Made it into a magnet for a friend to put on her fridge to remind her of how very special she is to me… and to God!

  3. Wonderful cards Kathy, you've done a great job as always.
Fairies and glitter definitely go together, I completely agree. The sparkly wings and pretty colours are perfect for your card. I really love the fancy corners and the big dragonfly you added, and I think the sentiment is perfect.
Your bling card is wonderful, the rhinestones look awesome against the black card stock, it really brings out the colours. The sentiment works perfectly with the sparkly little butterflies.
I like the CAS style of your third card. Great idea to use the patterned paper for the bauble and also for the background mat, it brings everything together nicely. The little bit of shading adds some nice depth.
The card you made for your friend is so pretty, the colours are lovely and the rhinestones add just the right amount of sparkle. I'm sure she's going to love receiving it.
    Great job Kathy!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
